Take the 20 second debt test

Football Legend Teeters on the Brink of Bankruptcy

According to a report in the Independent, former England and Tottenham Hotspur football star, Paul Gascoigne, has been given a reprieve amidst reports that he owes the tax man over £200,000 but it is feared that the footballing legend faces bankruptcy if he is unable to overcome his current financial difficulties and repay the monies that he owes in taxes. It is unfortunate that the once idolised football star has had such a fall from grace since retirement but his financial predicament is indicative of his life at present as he struggles to adjust to a life away from football. Bankruptcy is invariably a circumstance that befalls those who are down on their luck but it is imperative that those who face bankruptcy do all that they can to prevent this course of action from transpiring as it will have far reaching and lengthy implications for their finances which may well prove difficult to recover from. As such, schemes such as debt consolidation loans and individual voluntary arrangements should be considered as a viable and favourable alternative to bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy – Financial Fallout Affecting People from All Walks of Life

Obviously, as a professional footballer, Paul Gascoigne made substantial amounts of money throughout his career but having fallen upon hard times, it is an unfortunate consequence of the economic climate that he now faces the very real threat of bankruptcy. According to the report in the Independent, Gascoigne hasn't filed any tax returns for the last 2 years and has accrued massive deficits as a result in term of back taxes. As such, he is faced with a substantial bill or the threat of bankruptcy will become impossible to avoid. Many people in a similar situation to Gascoigne, who are struggling with substantial debts and facing bankruptcy, will utilise schemes like an IVA or professionally managed debt management plan.

Bankruptcy – Knowing how to React

The threat of bankruptcy can be very unsettling for those who are struggling with their finances but it is important not to panic or lose your head and act rashly. The best thing to do if you feel that bankruptcy may befall you is to speak to debt management professionals who will be well versed in dealing with people affected by bankruptcy concerns and provide solutions such as an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA).
